Leadership

Kevin A. Morrison is a humanities scholar, academic leader, and filmmaker whose work, grounded in nineteenth-century studies, extends across global literary culture, media, storytelling, and public humanities. His leadership work focuses on interdisciplinary humanities initiatives, international collaboration, publishing and editorial development, and public-facing approaches to literary and cultural study across institutions and national contexts.

Current and recent leadership roles

  • Mingde Distinguished Professor of British Literature and Humanities, Henan University

  • Director, Institute for World Literature, Henan University

    • Provides strategic leadership for interdisciplinary humanities research, international collaboration, and globally oriented programming in world literature and cultural studies. Oversees research initiatives, conferences, scholarly exchange, and institutional partnerships supporting international engagement and research visibility.

  • President, Society for Global Nineteenth-Century Studies

    • Leads an international scholarly society spanning 14 countries and 6 continents. Oversees governance, long-term strategic planning, conferences, publishing initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaboration supporting global and transnational approaches to nineteenth-century studies.​

  • Editor, Anthem Impact in Victorian Popular Fiction

    • Edits scholarly series focused on Victorian popular fiction, mass print culture, and the social, technological, and imperial contexts shaping nineteenth-century literary production and readership​.

  • Director, Institute for the Study of British and American Literature, Henan University (2023–25)

    • Provided strategic direction for interdisciplinary research initiatives aligned with institutional internationalization and research priorities. Supported curriculum redesign at undergraduate and doctoral levels, research programming, faculty collaboration, and development of translation and dissemination initiatives, including the Henan Research Centre for the Translation and Dissemination of Chinese Classics.​

  • Director, Morrison Research Lab, Henan University (2020–2021)

    • Founded a digital humanities research initiative focused on global disciplinary trends, interdisciplinary collaboration, and data-driven approaches to literary and cultural studies.

Institutional Leadership

Morrison’s institutional leadership experience includes directing research institutes, developing interdisciplinary programming, supporting faculty publication and grant activity, contributing to undergraduate and doctoral curriculum redesign, advancing faculty recruitment and retention efforts, and organizing international conferences and research collaborations across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
