Morrison Lab at Henan University

The Morrison Lab at Henan University utilizes digital technologies to enhance the production of knowledge about Victorian literature. It also seeks to increase awareness about disciplinary and geographic overrepresentation in the interdisciplinary field of Victorian studies by examining its current modes of knowledge production and dissemination. The lab’s objectives include:

  • Completing an analysis of speech verbs and their relationship to qualifying clauses or narratorial commentary in mid-Victorian novels

  • Acquiring raw data about scholarly gatekeeping in Victorian studies and producing visualizations that foreground the disproportionately large numbers of Anglo-American authors from English literature departments in the field’s main publication venues

The lab completed its work in late-2021.
